Ok!
I am not sure how many of you have read today my Blogger to WordPress post but let me share with you one of the comments I received…
” I see a lot of comments from people who have their own blogs, but I’m curious what the thoughts is for just the readers. Many of my favorite blogs have switched, too, and I hate to say it, but it’s not as “reader friendly” as the old formats and it makes me a bit sad. I liked being able to click once to my favorite blogs and scrolling. Now You have to keep clicking back and forth and for someone like me who doesn’t have the extremely fast internet, it’s not as instant as I would like because it has more to load. Not that you’re losing a reader, I still check in, just not as often and if the photo and caption doesn’t “get” me I don’t bother to stay (Not meaning you have an issue with yours, just for those thinking to switch to think about). So when the switch to this is made, someone really needs to make sure they are focusing on those parts. Kind of like a magazine, I don’t bother to pick it up and look through it unless it has some great “catcher” pieces on the front and really I could be missing some good stuff. Just thought I’d weigh in as a reader only! Please don’t take this personally, cuz I think you’re great, just constructive thoughts from the other side! Good luck!”
I love your comments and I learn from them and I have to admit this one got me thinking…
So what do you like better the magazine layout… {where you just see just the thumbnails of each post as the home page is now}
or the classic blog layout { where you see the entire post at once and you get to scroll down to the next one }?
Let me know!
Desiree, So cool that you asked your readers and switched because you value them! I’m also a fan of the classic blog layout and have decided not to make “the switch”.
At the end of the day Kari we are here because of them…
Thank you for stopping by and have a great day my love!
OMG! I am so glad someone else was thinking what I was! I really hate, well strongly dislike, the thumbnail format! I find it kind of annoying, and I have stopped reading several blogs because of it. I much prefer the old format! Thank you or taking the reader into consideration! Please spread the word to other bloggers!
I will!
Have a sweet day Lynne!
I much prefer the classic blog layout. It’s so much easier to read everything. I understand needing to update when things get bigger, but does it track how many readers per post, or just how many visits per site, it might be that you get more readers, but less in-depth readers. Also, I have two young ones and do daycare, so most of my blog reading is done on a tablet pc, its slow to respond and hard to change pages back and forth, so the old blogger style was easier.
Michaela,
Thank you so much for your comment…
I just switched back to the old blogger layout!
I hope this works better for you all. I really care about quality readers more than numbers and I am so grateful for you taking the time to let me know!
Have a GREAT night!
…♥
I was so excited this morning when I hopped on your blog and was able to read everything. Thank you!
As a reader I much prefer the classic blogger layout. I too will not read some post because I have limited time online and don’t want to flip back and forth. With that being said, there are some hard to work wih aspects of blogger from the stutter point of view. I feel like word reds is “prettier” too.
As long as the blog is organized, with popular posts and current series’ easily found, I prefer the classic blog layout.
It was nice of you to ask and since I can read your posts on my reader I’m hoping the change won’t be too different.
Stutter = writer
Got to love all this “smart” technology 😉
I am so glad I asked… 100% of the readers that have commented said that they like the blogger layout better.
I believe that one way or another it looks the same on your reader. Thank you for your comment I really appreciate it!
I really like the classic blog layout better, it is much more inviting to read and I like that I can see the entire post at once. I love your blog regardless though! 🙂
Hallie,
Thank you so much for your comment. It is helping a LOT to know what you all think… Have a sweet day my love!
I have a wordpress blog and started out as such and I would prefer to read some of the post first at least to catch my attention rather than having to click the thumbnail. Doesn’t have to be the full post for me just a good portion
P.S. I totally agree with the commenter in your post “question” it really isn’t as reader friendly. I feel if I were to ever change, I would be taking a risk in loosing readers because its just not as reader friendly.
I love you regardless!!! that said, I love the full layout. It seems that ALL my favorite blogs have switched over and now have these clickable post options without the full blog post. I personally get overwhelmed when all these different posts come up, and you can pick witch one you want to read. I love just getting the “one” new post in its entirety. With so many hundreds of blogs, I don’t have time to stop and read or look through a list of posts. I love the full classic layout top to bottom. Most importantly this is your blog, you do what makes you happy. xo luvs, best of luck to you. jen
Thank you my friend!
I didn’t know that this was such a BIG thing… but it seems to be. I was surprised if I tell you the truth… I personally like the full layout better, I just thought for some reason that it was only me since more and more bloggers are switching to the magazine layout.
I am just glad for the honesty of my readers!
I love you Jen… I really do!
I agree with the comment you have posted for discussion. I to am a blog reader only. I enjoyed the ease of the previous format. I have a super fast internet connection but not the time necessary to read all the blogs I follow plus read news articles and emails. A few other bloggers I love to follow also have switched or are in the process of changing to word press. I fear I have to pick just my very favorites to contiune with.
I am a reader… I agree that I like the blogger format. I just use Blogger: Dashboard to see my favorite blogs and look at the little blurb and picture. I don’t use the other readers, because they don’t allow for me to see the full content if I feel like it. If it’s not in my Dashboard, I don’t visit every day. But I do like the different looks you can get with the other programs.
Thank you Emily!
