Dollar Store Christmas Village
For years my kids have been asking me to get for them a little Christmas Village… and I haven’t.
The reason why is because the cool ones are extremely expensive
and the cheap ones are 15 dollars a house. NO WAY!
But this year the Dollar Store made it possible!
I made their little dream come true when I found the perfect little Village during a trip to my local Dollar Store.
The price was amazing since we got the entire village { houses, people and trees } for $15.00… the price of one house…
but I was still not crazy about the colors and look.
Check out their poor faces! It looked like some of them were having a bad make-up day .
So this is what I did to improve the situation.
I got the spray paint out and gave the Village and its people a little makeover with a light coat of paint.
I did not go crazy with it… just enough spray paint to cover the imperfections and still see the original colors through the paint.
I was surprise with what a huge difference such a simple step made.
Here is a closer look..
With the help of a small amount of acrylic paint mixed with water, I touched up some areas { as the trees and doors } to bring a little more color out.
After I was happy with the overall look I used Krylon Glitter Blast Spray { I love this stuff } to add some sparkle to the Village…
It is Christmas after all!
I let everything dry and I was done… our Village looked perfect to us!
So with the help of our sweet children we put it all together.
This was my favorite part… the kids were so excited!
This is how it looks at night…
The children love the sparkle from the glitter and I love the sparkle in their eyes.
I will take some more pictures in the morning so you can really see how cute they look but now I better go… this girl is going shopping today!
Have a FUN BLACK Friday!
See you tomorrow during STICKER TIME!
Besos!
I just did this. Thank you! Seriously, I have been pinning like everything you post. You are inspiration!
Really?
Do you like it? I think they look so cute…
Andrea’s enthusiasm was contagious and I had to come see what all the fuss was about. Now I get it! And I am thrilled that she shared because I have a set that I picked up cheap last year from big lots but was not in love with. I don’t have a crafty bone in me, but I am hoping to be able to transform my village using your instructions!! Thank you so much!!
OH MY!!!!!! you truly amaze me and that is from the bottom of my heart!!!! this is just incredible!!!! fabulous! sensational!!! i am in love with this — oh what a masterpiece!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i will be sharing with my readers : ) sending you tons of hugs to one and all! you ROCK!!!!
Andrea,
I thought you would like this one… I was saving it for you!
Besos!
I LOVE LOVE LOVE this village but I MUST ADMIT….I LOVE the story even MORE!! I would LOVE to share with you & your family some pieces to ADD to your ALREADY “special” village! My family owns storage buildings & the amount of “HOLIDAY” decor I have AMASSED thru the years is TRULY & COMPLETELY OVERWHELMING!! I could probably have my home viewed from space if I were to EVER get enough time to put it ALL out! LOL….SOOO….if you guys would like to receive a “new addition” to your village, I would LOVE to send something “special” from Alabama! Let me know if you are interested & where I can ship it to(and no…im not some ‘CrAzY’ trying to do something terrible!)..Im just a MOM from the South that was RAISED to “ALWAYS SHARE!” and since I loved the story so much….I thought it might be FUN! BTW…LOVE the GLITTER idea!!!!!
Ley Ann,
Really? I would love it! Let me know what you want me to do… I need to visit the South you guys are the best!
I love how this turned out! That white makes it look so classy! Spray paint is pretty awesome! : )
Oh my gosh these are amazing!!!! I’m gonna have to make a trip to the Dollar Store and have a look at these!!!! Love what you did with the Christmas village!
Beautiful! I looooove how kept some of the color in…subtle but such a huge difference! And I love some Christmas sparkle too! We actually have the pricier village and since we moved and downsized, we have no place for it which makes me sad. I adore YOUR solution!
Love what you did with this village (because the people’s faces look a million times better with the ivory spray paint). Also, the glitter blast was a great idea!
I got this village from the Dollar too, they are sitting waiting to be worked on. Where did you put this village? Under your tree? Thank you.
Ours is on top of our piano but I am liking the idea of under the tree even better.
Hubby wants to put our village under the tree. Will post pics on when it’s complete 🙂
