This homemade Play Dough Recipe is super soft and smells delicious!
That’s right we are sharing today my favorite homemade Kool-Aid Play Dough Recipe today!
How fun is this?
This is an awesome and easy recipe.
Your kids will love it and it is a perfect activity for the weekends and school breaks.
The colors come from the different Kool-Aid flavors and the playdough smells yummy.
Here is the recipe!
- 1 Cup Flour
- ¼ Cup Salt
- 1 Packet Kool-Aid
- ⅔ Cup Water *You will end up using between ½ and ⅔ cup.
- 1 Tb. Oil
- Mix the flour, the salt, and the Kool-Aid together.
- Boil the water.
- Add the oil to the water.
- Pour some of the water into the dry ingredients and mix with a spoon. Keep adding water and work the dough until the color is uniform and feels like playdough.
I thought it would be fun to put the playdough inside of Easter Eggs for Easter.
If you want to do this make sure to first add tape to the inside of the eggs.
The eggs come with small holes and you want to cover them so they become air tight,
this way the play dough doesn’t dry.
I found these clear small 2 oz. containers in the paper plate aisle at Wal-Mart.
They came in a bag of 50 cups with lids.
I ended up using 42 of them… I know, I made 7 batches of playdough, one for each Kool-Aid color.
If you decide to use these small mini cups divide the playdough in 6 equal balls.
Each batch should give you enough playdough to fill six containers of one color.
Give this Kool-Aid playdough recipe a try with your little kiddos.
Mine loved to help me mix the dough.
A fun thing about it is that you won’t know what color it is going to turn out until the water is added.
The little ones get so excited trying to guess what color the playdough is going to be.
It is so pretty and so much fun to make!
I hope you give it a try!
Here is another fun project that my kids loved.

Don’t you think this playdough will make adorable Easter Basket stuffers?
We do!
So we made a little free printable toppers that you can use to decorate the small playdough cups
or use them as cupcake toppers for Easter. Click here to print them!
Anyways, I better go. Make sure you have a wonderful day!

If is not too hot you are OK storing it in room temperature.
Hello and thank you for this neat diy,I didn’t know you can make it with Kool Aid. I was wondering if you used all purpose or self rising flour? Thank you again!
Cindi, I used all purpose flour… Thank you so much for stopping by!
this is a fun idea. does the kool aid make the play dough stain?
It doesn’t… My kids love making this play-dough!
this was pretty cool i added glitter it was fun to play with……..not to eat 😉
I made this, and i love it! one thing though: my cat is addicted to it! i’m not kidding, i let her sniff it, and she wont stop trying to eat it, if i leave it alone, she tries to eat it, and i have to keep it under surveillance!
Hahaha… I love your cat!
Thanks so much for the kool aid tip to playdough. Does it stain the kids’ hands? Thanks!
It doesn’t.
Hey there, love these colors! In fact I love your web space here because of all the gorgeous colorful projects you display! …Just curious before I try this: Did you purposely not put any Cream of Tartar (or Canada here CREME de Tartar lol) in the recipe, or is it forgotten?
Love, love love! My five-year-old grandson is our little artist and loves to make things. He’s going to have a great, busy summer!
Great!!! Love this so much, just shared to my facebook page 🙂
Thank you so much for sharing and stopping by!
