I am so excited to share with you a party that I threw for some fabulous girlfriends of mine a few weeks ago!
We had a great evening together, eating, chatting and making these fun mini gardens…
Oh my cuteness!
When Miracle-Gro invited me to do something special for some of my favorite people the first group that came to my mind were these young women from my own community.
I adore them and I knew right away that I wanted to introduce them to The Gro Project
They are so sweet and we decided to plant mini gardens and give them as a gift
to our moms or special friends!
You know!
It is always nice to show appreciation for those around us that help us grow everyday!
We were ready to get dirty and work the soil and make our own fun garden project.
I didn’t want the girls to be overwhelmed with a huge gardening project and these mini gardens
were perfect to put together in a short amount of time and for our beautiful gardeners to take them home.
The first thing we did was to paint the jars.
To do it simply remove the lid, spray paint the jars, and use a butter knife to scratch the area
where the letters are… That will give the jars an old vintage look!
While drying it was time to eat!
Meet my good friend and cook!
What is a party without food… Right?
We kept the menu simple; we had a barbecue, chips, drinks,
and for dessert we made these adorable mini eatable gardens with worms and all!
Then with our bellies full we were ready to hang out together and finish our mini gardens.
I decided to use secculents since they are so easy to work with and low maintenance.
After we took the plants apart we added Moisture Control Potting Mix to our jars.
We made holes into the potting mix using our fingers and placed the plants in them.
{ Make sure to put the silver ring back on the jars before you start planting }
I recommend using Shake n’ Feed All Purpose Plant Food to keep your plants pretty and healthy.
Here are the girls making their own mini gardens…
…at the end of the day each of the girls went home with a little mini garden of their own.
I love the idea of using this activity for a Birthday Party.
It would also be perfect for Family Reunions or for a girl’s evening get together or
to inspire children and youth to grow something and take care of it.
