I love handmade gifts and I love a good deal. Today I’m going to show you how I transformed two items from the Dollar Store into adorable DIY Jewelry Holders. I love that you can customize them to any colors and patterns you like best. They are super easy to make and they are perfect to organize your jewelry.
Jewelry Holder Tutorial
I started with a glass candle holder and an ice-cream bowl from my local Dollar Store.
The first thing I did was to create the pattern using tape.
It is important for the tape to be pressed tightly and not leave spaces where the paint can bleed through.
You are going to paint the back of the glass.
The second step is to clean the glass.
Time to paint! The secret of painting glass without runs is to keep your distance. Stay 8 to 10 inches away from the glass. Keep in mind that it is better to take your time and have multiple thin coats of paint than one thick messy one.
Let the glass dry completely before you remove the tape.
After the first color is dry it is time to apply the second color choice. If you want the back of your jewelry holder to be just one color then spray paint the entire surface with the second color of your choice. If you want a two tone look protect the first color taping over it and go ahead and spray paint the rest.
Let it dry again. Remove the tape and you are done!
Here is the ice-cream bowl!
…and here is the flat candle holder!
Can you believe I paid two dollars for them?
