Delicious oil free Avocado Cilantro Dressing made with all natural ingredients and so easy to make.

Hi friends! I’m here today hanging out with Horizon Organics to bring you a five minute recipe that has become one of our family favorites! This Avocado Cilantro Dressing is not just good for you but can turn any food into a meal in just minutes! It’s delicious on salads, yummy with whole bean tortilla chips, and it’s great with any type of meats! When you are in a hurry this dressing is the perfect final touch for a sandwich or a lettuce chicken wrap!

The first time I made this dressing I did it with my kids in mind. If you have kids you already know how big of a challenge it can be to provide a balanced diet for your kiddos. As a busy mom of four I’m always looking for easy and quick ways to encourage my own family to live a healthy lifestyle. I’m not going to lie it can be hard especially on school nights when we are all busy and our schedules can get a bit crazy! I love using Horizon Organic products because they believe better food matters because kids matter, so they make their food with simple, recognizable ingredients that make both kids and grownups happy. They believe in nothing fake, processed or complicated. I love it!

For this recipe you are going to need just a few ingredients, such as avocado, cilantro, garlic, salt, lemon or lime, and Horizon Organic Whole Milk. No oil, mayo, or sour cream  is needed for this tasty dressing!

Let’s make something good together!

The kitchen is the perfect place to introduce good eating habits to our children because most of the time kids are always looking for things to eat! When I was a little girl I would hang out with my mom for hours in our small kitchen and it was there, in the heart of our home, that I learned how to cook. Until this day the memories that we made are precious to me! If you have a picky eater don’t give up… Here are a few tips that have worked with my own kids and maybe will work for yours as well!

Be The Example

I know, easier said than done especially if you love donuts as much as I do! It can be hard to be the good example and be responsible to take the first step, but small steps can take us far!  In the last year our family has replaced potato chips and unhealthy snacks for fresh fruits, veggies and organic snacks and treats. I was surprised of how easy the transition was for my own kids and the truth is that it was harder for me than for them to make a few changes but I am so glad we did!

Recruit your little helpers!

My kids are more willing to eat anything that they have actually made because they are proud of their work. Depending on the age of your child choose simple tasks that they can help with when you are preparing a meal and you’ll see how excited they’ll be to help! One of our favorite ways to serve vegetables is making Veggie Kabobs and kids love making their own! Lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers,  chicken, cheese, and pieces of mango and apples are some of our favorite ingredients for this fun salad on a stick!
