to the blog world…
This week however I want to bring her back home,
and give the tutorial a more personal touch…
The thing about her is that she didn’t always look sooo chic.
I have people asking me all the time
“How do you always find
such good deals?”
Well… I think it has something to do with the fact that I see things
not as they are
but as how they could become…
I believe I learned such a gift from my Grandfather..
He always used to tell me…,
” Desi, love is not blind… it just sees the best in us”
Second, I removed the ugly sticks from the base.
My original plan was
to bleach the fabric… because I love roses.
Trust me I tried to do it BUT it didn’t work… for some reason it wouldn’t bleach.
My spontaneous plan B was to paint the fabric.
So I did. First black…
Third… It was time to put some of the original embellishments back…
They are so cute!
She went from Miss Lovely
to Miss Fabulous 😉
and from a forgotten shelf at Goodwill
to the front table at the entrance of my home…
…yep! she is lovely and she is wearing my grandma’s necklace… How cute is that!

What an amazing transformation!
Your Grandfather sounds like an amazing man! And Miss Lovely looks just devine in your Grandmother's necklace!
What a beautiful story!!
Loved the story…made me really miss my dad who was the greatest poppee to his grandchildren. I love your transformation of Miss Lovely into Miss Fabulous..we all could use a redo every now and then! Thanks for sharing.
Sounds like your grandfather was a true gift. And he certainly taught you a great deal. Your transformation is beautiful.
I love this redo and the story of your Abuelo. My abuelos are all gone now and this story brought a tear to my eye.
Beautiful redo. And a beautiful story, and not to discount it as happening because I can {entirely} believe it did, your grandfather must have taken a page out of Les Miserables. It's pretty much a real-life example of what happened with Jean Valjean and the Bishop.
What an amazing find and lovely post. She is beautiful.
{I found your blog via your sewing space post on Ucreate – you have wonderful vision). Have a great weekend!
wow…your abuelo sounds like he was an extraordinary man. thank you for sharing… 🙂
