Hi Friends! I’m Taryn from Design, Dining + Diapers. It’s always so great to be here at The 36th Avenue!
I’ve got a fun and easy Valentine’s project for all of you today and the best part is it will only take you about 30 minutes.
Which means this is totally doable during a nap time or sitting front of the TV watching your favorite show ( The Bachelor, anyone?).
I was cleaning out the garage after Christmas and noticed we had a lot of Styrofoam packaging sheets laying around.
Then a light went off.
These would make perfect faux canvases! Traditional canvases can often run you $10-15.
With the Styrofoam you are not only saving money but also recycling!
So I have for you today, a Valentine’s Day (Faux) Canvas Art.
This Valentine’s Day Canvas Art is a fun and inexpensive way to bring pattern and texture into your seasonal decor.
Place it on a mantel or hang it on a gallery wall!
Supplies:
3/4 Yard Chevron Fabric (Found at Hobby Lobby)
8 X 8″ Piece of Red Buralp –
Thumbtacks (can be found at The Dollar Tree)
Spray Adhesive – 12 X 14″ Piece of Styrofoam
Start by cutting your fabric to size and then place your board directly in the middle.
Apply the spray adhesive to the board and then begin to wrap the fabric around it like you would a present.
Spraying more glue with each fold.
This creates really crisp lines and the fabric won’t slip.
Run your hand over the surface to smooth out any bubbles.
Take your burlap and cut a simple heart shape out of it.
Place the heart directly in the middle and place the thumbtacks around the edges.
And that’s it my friends!
Now run out to your recycle bin and gather up some Styrofoam for your next project!
You can view more of my DIY and seasonal projects here.
Special thanks to Desirée for having me over today!

What?
This is brilliant!
