I love Mod Podge!
Let me show you our Jar Lid’s Magnets.
These would make a perfect gift for family members that are far away.
I believe any grandma would love this gift!
Let me show you how I made them. So easy!

Gloss Mod Podge
Dimensional Magic Mod Podge

Brush
1 Box of Lids.
Scissors or Circle Puncher
Magnets
TUTORIAL
I printed my pictures on white card stock.
The size of your pictures will depend on the size of lids you are going to use.
I got the wide mouth lid size for my magnets.
I used a 3’’ circle punch to trim my photos. It is the perfect size for this project.
I centered the image where I wanted it and then I punched it.
Now we are ready to have some Mod Podge fun!
Paint the beige inside part of the lid with the Gloss Mod Podge.
The red part of the lid will become the magnet’s frame.
Right away place your image on top of the lid and smooth out any bubbles using your fingers.
Add another coat of Gloss Mod Podge on top of the picture and let it dry.
Don’t worry, the Mod Podge will dry clear.
The last step is to apply a layer of Dimensional Magic on top of the picture.
I would advice to do this on a flat even surface so it sits and dries flat.
It will look weird while wet but after it dries it will give your magnets a
beautiful smooth dimensional glossy finish that you’ll love.
This is my favorite part!
Let them dry overnight or for a full 24 hours before you add the magnets to the back of the lids.
You’ll love them!
Here is one of them on my fridge!
Our magnets are ready for Christmas.
They are going to go all the way to Europe for my mama’s fridge!
I hope this post inspires you to play with some Mod Podge products
and create your own amazing Holiday Crafts!

HI! I love these and am thinking of making these for Christmas gifts. I was wondering if you could tell me where you got the lids? I have done a little looking online and am not really finding anything.
THanks!
You can find them at Wal-Mart!
I’m going to make about 24 of these for Christmas gifts. ABout how much mod podge dimensional magic will I need?
You need really little for each of them. I think two of them will be more than enough.
Love this idea. Couple tips that may be helpful to first-timers. The streaks you see on the photos after applying the first layer of mod podge will still be visible even though they will be clear so make every effort to apply the coat evenly. The dimensional magic will harden and make the edges of the picture curl up and become brittle and easy to break unless you seal the edges down around the gentle dome in the center of the lid when you adhere it to the lid. This will also add to the 3D effect.
i wonder how else to do this, the lid edges are so sharp!
Erin,
These are the lids that you purchase at the stores for canning. You can find them at Wall-Mart, They come in a box of 12 or 24 for under $2.00. They are not sharp at all.
Great Gift Idea
I am heading to Michael’s as soon as I get a moment today…I have to make these! This would make my mother really happy. She loves to show off her grandchildren. 🙂
Kate, I really think it would make the perfect Christmas Gift for Grandmas.
Love this idea! I love reusing the jars but never know what to do with the lids!
Your magnets look great. I was actaully thinking a similar thing as I popped a top off a home-canned jar of applesauce last week “I bet I could make a cool ornament out of this”. The magnets look great and would make a great Christmas gift
Thank you Carissa for stopping by!
