I am sharing today a tutorial that your kiddos will love. We { Mimi and I } are showing you how to make Slime
in just four simple steps. Well, not just slime but awesome Glittered Slime!
Your kids are going to love you!!!!
How fun is this?
Let’s get with it!
MATERIALS
1 Elmer’s Glitter Glue
1 Cup Water
1 tsp. Borax
1 Tb Water
{ You can replace the Glitter Glue for regular white glue to make normal slime }
TUTORIAL
1
Mix 1 tsp. Borax and 1 Cup water together.
You can find the Borax at your local stores in the Laundry section.
Call me crazy but I love the box.
2
Have your little helper empty the Glitter Glue into a bowl.
Oh the anticipation!
3
Add 1 TB. Water to the glue and mix it together.
This will help the glue to become a little more flexible.
4
Then pour the Borax mixture inside of the bowl.
Let their little hands work the magic as they combine the glue and the mixture together.
Right away you will see how the Glitter Slime will start to form.
I love this part when you hear them say oooh and cool at the same time!
Isn’t it pretty?
Don’t leave the slime in the water mixture too long since it will make the slime too hard.
Finish mixing it in your hands.
It will look like this!
TIP: Don’t throw the extra Borax mixture yet.
If the slime gets too slimy you can put it back inside and it will harden some more.
We made the Glitter Slime in three colors.
At this point all that was left was to have fun…
Time to play!
To store it we used baby food jars.
And it was at this point that I thought
Wait a minute!
What about if we make some Halloween Glitter Slime Monsters with it.
So we did!
You can check out the tutorial here.
They should be scary but I am going to say that they are super cute!
Happy Tuesday!

also can i use regular elmers glue and just add glitter?
Yes you can Kelly!
Hello, I was wondering if you have to have borax? if so what else could i use? what i mean is could i use a regular laundry powder? thank you i really want to make this and I’m really excited too!!!
Kelly, you need the Borax.
Hi,
This looks super fun.. Will the slime still be slimy after a few days? I was gonna make some for party favors for my toddler and was gonna make it a week in advance. I just dint want it to harden up by the day of the party.
Thanks !!
You may want to make it a few days before but not longer than that.
Thank you so much for this beautiful tutorial! I have done this recipe several times now, and the resulting glitter slime is very popular with my toddler and preschool classes. We are making some more glitter slime today, for my daughter’s birthday party, and I was wondering if you’ve ever tried doubling the borax solution. We are going to be making a lot of slime and I didn’t know whether to mix up new solution each time or just make a double batch.
I’ve never tried to double it. Let me know if it worked for you!
Hello, this is a fun post, i have seen many slime recipes but i stuck with you page. I have never used Borax and acutually bought a box only to make slime, no i have to think of other ways to use it 🙂 The slime was sooo much fun. Funny thing was right when i read ” don’t let it sit too long in the Borax mix or it will be too hard” i thought: ” man that’s hard, i thought it all has to some how mix together, haha. So ja but that was not bad at all, it turned out to be great to make bouncy balls. Yes they bounce really well when let in the Borax mix for longer, we had tons of fun throwing our shapes around 🙂 Then i made a second batch for a slimier version 🙂 Now i am wondering how long i can store it for? Thank you for this fun activity, Julie
I think we’re going to do this at my daughter’s first grade party. Love the idea! How many baby food jars does the recipe fill? And any ideas on finding the glitter glue on the cheap? Thanks!
Not sure if you’ve already made this, but I just bought some from Walmart for about $3 per bottle after tax. That was the cheapest I was able to find it by far, with everything else being around $5 per bottle after tax. I ordered on Walmart.com, and just picked up at a local Walmart that had it in stock, since it’s not in stock online.
I’m making these for my daughters birthday party. All of the kids are going to pitch in and help make 3 different colors, and then we’re going to put each in a 2oz plastic take out container for them to take home with them. I’m really excited to this. This years party is going to be all having the kids do various crafts that they’re going to take home. It’s going to be a lot of fun for them I think. 🙂
It sounds like a lot of fun! Thank you so much for sharing your tip 🙂
Hi!
Can you tell me more about that Borax? What is it? I live in Finland, and I haven´t seen that kind of product in our stores. Can it be replaced?
Hmmm… I am not sure Rikka. It is a cleaning powder that you can use to wash clothing.
hi riika, i’m sure if you have some friends state side you could have them ship it to you, its only about $3.00 USD a box and you can use it loads and loads of time for crafts like these and cleaning.
I love these!! Anything with glitter is a must with my girls 🙂
I was planning on doing this as our craft as well but already have regular elmers glue to use. What about adding food coloring and glitter to make that efect?
It will work as well 🙂
How much slime does one bottle of glue make? How long does this take? I’m thinking of doing this for my son’s 2nd grade halloween party craft, and we have very limited time & budget! Thank you!
The glitter glue bottles are not that big. You may want to use the small size of food jars for these project. If I remember right one bottle makes like 6 small jars.
