Back to school daysย are almost here and I thought it would be fun to bring back one of my favorite teacher appreciation gifts! All of the teachersย at our school are required to wear theirย identification badges every day. Years ago I starting to makeย badge holdersย for my kid’s teachersย and they have always loved them. Today I’m sharing a quick tutorial of how to make your own.
ย
Trust me, teachers will appreciate more of these!

ย First I made my fabric flowers. You can find a tutorial of how to make them HERE. I used hot glue while making the flowers to hold the fabric together.

Cutย twoย thin strips of fabric, the width will depend on the size of the lanyard you’ll use. Make sure to cut them one inch longer than the length of the lanyard. I always like to iron my fabric as I go, I found it easier to work with itย that way. You can use ribbon instead of fabric if you like.

After cutting the pieces it was time to attach the fabric strips to the lanyard.

Wear the lanyard around your neck in front of a mirror and choose where to place the flowers.
Hot glueย ย themย in place.
ย {Did you know that there is hot glue for fabric?
ย
ย
Also choose where to place theย pen packet.
Put the fabric on top of the penย to measureย how much you willย need.

Cut the fabric, iron it, and sewย it in place.
{You kind of have to pleat the bottom of the pocket since the fabric will not sit flat}

ย You are almost done!
Sew theย ends of the lanyard togetherย and makeย ย the loopย where the key ring isย going to be.

Here is how it looks while ย hanging…
Because my sweet girlย is twelve I had to tuck part of theย lanyard behind her so it wouldn’t hang too low.
Theย embellishments actuallyย hang lower on an adult.ย
That’s it!
