…WOW!
What an incredible four days I had last week.
First of all thank you so much to my EXTRAORDINARY guests for taking care of my blog during the time I visited SNAP.
You guys are amazing!
SNAP was the first conference I have gone to and the experience was nothing but INCREDIBLE!
I learned so many things during the time that I was there.
Some of those things I learned came from the speakers and classes and other ones came from the experience of being surrounded by so many fantastic women.
I want to share some of those learning moment with you…
1
Creativity comes in every size!
{ Here I am with my super talented roomie Megan from Brassy Apple }
2
Bloggers are made of bones and flesh…
No WAY!
{ Shelley from The House of Smiths and I being girls! }
3
You just have a few days to meet extraordinary women… make sure you do!
4
Dreams come true!
Back in Spring of 2011 Jo Packham wrote this in the opening article of her magazine:
” If you had the power and the privilege, the responsibility and the honor, of granting one wish to someone, what would it be?
What wish would you wish for yourself? Have you ever thought about it, really?”
Jo… you made one of my wishes come true: the honor to personally meet you.
{ Here I am with the one and ONLY Jo the creator of Where Women Create…and yes I was almost crying }

Make it special!
The first day of SNAP was the first birthday of The 36th AVENUE.
The first person that shared one of my projects was my beautiful Jen from Tartertots and Jello.
Jen my dear thank you for making me believe that I could fly!
I LOVE you!
6
Be grateful!
The reason why these events are even possible is in part because of the incredible sponsors behind them.
Take time to meet them, thank them and get to know their products!
One of my favorite ones there was Vinyl Outlet.
Look at the beautiful creations they made using vinyl… love it!
Another fun booth was Riley Blake Designs.
I had the chance to learn how to make a little flower embellishment while visiting with the ladies behind these amazing fabrics.
So fun!
And this girl loves to eat so I have to give two thumbs up to Velata
for the delicious dessert they provided for us.
Yum!
7
Bring comfortable shoes!
We did a lot of walking… by the end of the Conference I felt like I had had a killer work out I am actually still recuperating!
8
Don’t forget your business cards!
I am excited to go through them and visit the many new friends I made during SNAP.
9
Take a break!
I never thought a blogging conference could be overwhelming… but it can be at times.
There is a lot of information, names and people around you.
I enjoyed taking the time to focus on the simple things that make me happy!
10
Find a great group of roomies…
I adore my girls!
{ Megan from Brassy Apple, Tausha from Sassy Style, Jen from CraftOmaniac and I }
11
Have fun and enjoy the moment!
By the end of the Conference you’ll realize that you knew more people than you thought.
…Have FUN!
{ Here we are Cassity from Remodelaholic , Tausha from Sassy Style and I having a good time! }
12
Plan to take home more than what you brought with you.
Mique from 30 Handmade Days made it impossible for us ladies to not go shopping.
The Queen Bee Market was fantastic!

After coming home exhausted and taking a minute or two to process the last few days, I have one more lesson I learned.
Don’t go to a Conference with firm expectations.

I think sometimes we create the personality of bloggers in our minds.
…I did!
When you get to meet Bloggers personally you may be surprised of how different some of them can be to the person you have created in your head.
This is not a bad thing if you are ready for it.
Go to a Conference with an open mind, be yourself and don’t be afraid to approach everyone around you.
At the end of the day we are all the same, hoping, wanting, and dreaming pretty much the same things.
I had so much fun getting to know so many of you out there.
It was my pleasure to get to hug you, hear your voices, and meet you personally.
Thank you for making me feel so loved .
Happy Tuesday Lovelies!
Desirée
You are such a lovely lady! I was so sad when you were all at SNAP…I wanted to be there so badly…definitely next year! How tall are you? I am 5 ft…period. I am usually the shortest one wherever I go! Looks like you had a blast and learned lots of amazing things!

Girl you have to come next year for sure. It was so much fun!
What a great SNAP writeup. I wish I lived closer so I could’ve gone to this awesome event. It looks like you all had so much fun.
Let me just say, those yellow shoes you have on are super cute. Do you mind sharing where you got those adorable shoes? Next, I LOVE your business card. I haven’t made one for myself yet. Did you use an online Website for those?
Thank you for this inspiring post!

Kristin,
The shoes came from Target. I designed my own cards using Photoshop Elements and they were printed by moo.com
I hope this helps!

Looks like you had sooo much fun!
Sounds like a wonderful time and great learning experience, Desiree. I think your last point is so important. I think our blogs can be beautiful little retreats that reflect a part of us, but who you meet in person is a much more rich and complex human being. Being present and open and curious to that will deepen connections and understanding. Thanks so much for sharing your adventure with us!

How exciting. I love when people post what they learned and share about experiences from conferences. One of these days I hope to be able to attend one! And congrats on your one year! I’m celebrating mine this week as well 🙂
