Today I am teaming up with my friends from Daybreak Utah and Holmes Homes to bring you a few simple tips of how to design the perfect kitchen. Last week I gave you a tour of my dream house in the beautiful Lake Village at Daybreak Utah.

This home speaks to my heart!

Today I am going to focus on the kitchen and the beautiful finishes that I got to pick for my dream kitchen.

What I love the most about the Waterside 1 Model is the amount of windows and natural light that this house has. You can click HERE to see pictures from the inside!

 

THE DESIGN PROCESS

The first thing you want to do when you are going to design your kitchen is to choose the finishes.

A few weeks ago I had a blast visiting my friends over at the Holmes Homes Design Center.

I got to choose from the most beautiful tiles, back splashes, cabinets, faucets, and lighting,

and I have to say that these were not just gorgeous but the quality was top of the line!

 

Today I want to share with you the vision that I have for my dream kitchen.

I am going for a bright and open gray kitchen!

I love neutral colors and I think gray is a great alternative to white…

Seriously what is there not to love?

I chose for the cabinets a simple, clean, modern style, similar to the ones in my own kitchen.

 

I wanted my virtual dream kitchen to be chic, full of texture, layers and industrial modern accents.

 

…Let me break it down!

THE CABINETS

For the main cabinets I chose a one tone gray color, and for the island I chose the same cabinet, same color but with an antique glaze top coat and distressed wood.

I wanted the island and the cabinets to complement each other without looking exactly the same.

 

BACKSPLASH and COUNTER TOPS

Since the cabinets have a darker undertone I chose for the backsplash two white different types of tile. For the main backsplash I went with a gorgeous marble miniature subway tile. My second choice was an amazing Lime Stone and Marble Mosaic Tile to create a focal point behind the stove. I chose marble tile for a reason. The gray natural bains of the tile pick up the gray color of the cabinets… Same thing with the BEAUTIFUL thick granite, all the colors of the stone in the countertops pick up the colors of the rest of the elements that makes this space a DREAM KITCHEN!

LIGHTING & HARDWARE

I chose a silver nickel  hardware for this kitchen. The straight masculine lines give this kitchen a bit of an industrial feeling.

The lighting is ridiculously AH-mazing! That gorgeous chandelier will be displayed right on top of the rustic island…

A little bit industrial, a little bit rustic, a little bit vintage… Perfection!

 

SINK & FAUCET

 

For the sink and faucet I chose a farm style oversized sink and a farm style faucet to go with it!

I brought these two pieces to the design to create a softer contrast along with a touch of old fashion charm to balance the modern clean lines of the kitchen. So pretty!

 

FLOORING

 

 Flooring was the last piece of my dream kitchen design process. I chose tile that actually looks like hardwood floors.

It is easy to clean, it comes in tons of colors and it can change completely the look of a room depending on the color you choose! I used it in my own kitchen at home and I love it!

 

 ACCESSORIES

After you have all of your finishes picked it is time to bring color and personality with accessories.

I love to use natural elements and wood accessories to warm up the space and make it “homey”! 

Look what the little touch of the dry oranges do for the cabinets!

 

MAKE IT YOUR OWN

The most important thing about design is for you to feel that the space you create speaks about you.
