I am so happy to be participating in Kristen Duke Decorating with Portraits Series.
For the last few weeks over at her blog there have been amazing tutorials packed with great ideas of how to use photos to decorate every room in your home.
Today is my turn to share my tips with her readers and you…
but first, do you remember the lonely old window that was hanging by my kitchen island?
I was never really happy with the look of it.
I decided to give it a 5 minutes simple makeover using chicken wire and pin tacks.
TUTORIAL
1
Using some clippers or pliers cut the chicken wire to your desired size.
Please be carfeful with your hands, the wire is super sharp.
DON’T GET HURT!
2
For the second and final step I secured the chicken wire to the back of the window
nailing a bunch of tacks to keep the wire in place.
Then I turned the window around and I was done!
I told you it was a 5 minute project.
If you want a more in depth tutorial you can check the small wire frame I made for my peg board HERE.
I also antiqued some clothes pins using an ink pad.
You’ll see later what I used them for…
Here is a small sneak peek of the new window…
I want to show you the entire look of the window and share with you some tips of how to take great family pictures.
I am sharing some of my latest pictures there.
Are you ready? Lets go!
Does the window still have glass in it?
I really love the window and your kitchen!!!
Michelle it doesn’t have the glass, just the frame.
Oooh I love this!! I need to make one of these asap!
I love using chicken wire and old windows or frames to make memo boards to hang old black and whites on or just to stand alone. The mix of chippy white and rusty chicken wire is fantastic in my eyes.
Love yours!!!!
Thank you for hosting! Have a wonderful weekend 🙂
Hi Desiree! I love this project idea, and I have the perfect old mirror frame to use for it. Weekend project!
Thanks for hosting a fun party! :0)
I LOVE this. Super cute, and it would be perfect to hold all that stuff hanging around on my counters! I’m stopping by via the blog hop. It’s so nice to meet you 🙂 I’m a new follower.
Lots of love,

I’ve been wanting to do one of these frames forever, just not sure where I would put it. Yours turned out darling (of course). Thanks for hosting, friend!! Don’t be a stranger…. it was so great getting to team up with you for the series 🙂

p.s. When I heard your accent, it totally made me think of a friend of our family from South Africa. I don’t know why I never thought that’s what you would sound like. LOL. It’s a lovely accent, Desiree!!
I love the window! If mine didn’t have glass in it, I would for sure be doing that! The clothes pins look great on it! You could even paint the clothes pins or add some embellishments for different holidays. Thanks for the party! You are awesome!
