Hello Everyone! It’s Aniko from Place Of my Taste. I am so glad to be back sharing something sweet with you all today! With Valentine’s Day fast approaching , I thought I should bring you something cute and lovely. If you like to give something homemade for your Valentine, look no further.
I am sharing the cutest stamped Sugar Cookie Recipe with you.
Aren’t they the sweetest looking little cookies?
I spotted these cookies in Parents magazine. They looked a little different in the magazine and they suggested to use regular letter stamps to stamp short words { love, hugs, mine, etc } on the cookies. I did not have letter stamps at home, so I decided to make my own stamps out of potatoes.
Yep…that’s right.
Potatoes
And with the little bit of hubby’s help the shapes turned out almost perfect.
I have to be honest with you, I have never made sugar cookies before. This was my very first attempt to make sugar cookies and the recipe I am sharing with you today is
AWESOME
- 1¾ cup flour
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- ½ tsp. salt
- 1½ stick butter, room temperature
- 1¾ cup sugar, divided
- 1 large egg
- 3 tsp. vanilla
- ¼ cup sour cream
- Natural red food coloring
- In medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Set aside.
- Place butter and 1¾ cup sugar in large bowl. With an electric mixer cream until light and fluffy.3-5 minutes.
- Add egg, vanilla and sour cream. Mix until combined.
- Slowly add dry ingredients to wet;mix together. Refrigerate batter for 30 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 350 F.
- Roll small balls out of your batter and place it onto a cookie sheet, flatten slightly with your palm.
- Bake until golden brown, about 10 minutes.
- Remove from oven and let it cool.
- Dip your stamps into your red food coloring and lightly press onto cookies.
I did not make my cookies completely flat before I baked them and they came out a little thicker……but they were so soft an fluffy.
And now the best part…
