This Cake Mix Homemade Donut Recipe is delicious and very easy to make. They are moist and light milk chocolate donuts made simply from cake mix and topped with a cream glaze and crumbled Oreo Cookies.

Hello there my friends!! It’s Gina from Kleinworth & Co. & I’m back here today to share with you one of my favorite things to make – Donuts! A couple of years ago I picked up a mini donut maker at Target on sale for about $20. I never thought I would use it as much as I do. It makes making donuts so incredibly simple. This time I decided to go outside my usual base donut recipe & change it up with these Oreo Cake Mix Donuts. They are moist & light milk chocolate donuts made simply from cake mix & topped with a cream glaze & crumbled Oreo Cookies. Perfection if you as me. You can’t go wrong with donuts & when you add Oreos – well…then I’m all in.

We have a pretty good donut shop here close to the house. The problem is they are usually cleaned out pretty quickly. But when I do get there on time I always pick the Oreo topped chocolate donuts.

My hubs tried to tell me that these are a dessert not a breakfast because they are made with cake mix & topped with frosting & Oreos. Well, he’s probably right – however, I am a firm believer in having cake for breakfast – especially on weekends. Life is short – why not!

Oreo Cake Mix Donuts

Ingredients

• 1 dry milk chocolate cake mix
• 1 egg
• ¼ cup canola oil
• 1 cup water
• *For the Glaze
• 1 cup confectioners sugar
• 2-3 tbsp milk
• 2 tsp vanilla extract
• *Topping
• 5-6 crumbled Oreo cookies
• 2 tbsp chocolate jimmies

Instructions

1. Preheat mini donut maker while you prepare your batter
2. Combine the donut ingredients in a large bowl & whisk well until mostly smooth
3. Once your donut maker is hot & ready spoon about 2 tbsp of batter into each donut well
4. Close the lid & cook approx 5-6 minutes
5. Remove & place on a wire rack to cool
6. Continue with remaining batter
7. Once donuts are cooked & cooled combine glaze ingredients in a small bowl & whisk until fully combined
8. Dip each donut into the glaze to coat the top & return to the wire rack
9. Immediately sprinkle with Oreo crumbles & chocolate jimmies before your glaze hardens
10. Allow them to set before serving
11. Enjoy!
