Today I am sharing Five Home Decor and Design Tips that always work! A few weeks ago I went to visit my Daybreak Utah friends and Holmes Homes, the amazing builders behind my dream house! Today you are going to see why I love this community and this particular house. It is simply gorgeous!
1
Don’t build a house… BUILD A HOME!
When I’m going house hunting the first thing I look for is the neighborhood. I have a family and I want to provide for my children a safe community that they can call home. Last week I shared HERE what I love about Daybreak.
Keeping that in mind I am going to focus today on the house itself and tips of how to make a house a home.
Are you ready to see it?
My dream home is situated at Lake Village in the Daybreak Utah Community.
It was love at first sight!
Loved the gorgeous egg-blue color, the red doors, the cottage timeless design, and the adorable white picket fence.
When I saw it from the outside I felt like Holme Homes had built this beauty for me!
Isn’t it pretty?
All the pictures that you are going to see are from the inside of this beautiful Waterside Home from Holme Homes!

Good BONES
An empty house should speak to you.
I always try my best to look beyond the decor of a home.
Pay attention to what I call the bones of a house…Things like flooring, backsplash, windows, faucets, hardware, and wall treatments… All the details that make a house a home!
Let me show you what I am talking about…
Check out this laundry sink!
…The beautiful plank wall!
The gorgeous faucets!
The yummy door hardware!
The fantastic door frames and hardwood looking tile!
While you are looking at the other pictures pay attention to the light fixtures!
Seriously, I give Holmes Homes two thumbs up for paying attention to quality, design and detail!
3
LIGHTING
When you are looking for a home make sure to choose a house that has plenty of natural light.
No lamp can substitute the natural light that comes from windows.
Natural light is not just gorgeous but helps us feel happy, energetic and optimistic. It is inviting and lifts us up!
Wait to see what is behind these side-yard doors and windows!
The thing that I love the most about Daybreak and Holmes Homes is how bright the community and houses are.
For the love of windows!
The natural light in this house is AH-MAZING!
We all know that hallways are nothing but a useless dark tunnel that takes us to rooms.
Not in my dream house baby!
This is what you’ll find behind those side-yard doors that I showed you earlier…
I introduce to you the mother of all hallways!!!
Shut UP! Right?
Did you see those windows?
Did you see the light that comes from those double doors?
Did you see the built-in hallway bookcase?
OK, if you could excuse me for a minute…
I am having a moment!

TEXTURE
One of the keys of great design is mixing patterns and materials to create texture.
This is not just a way to decorate but to bring your personality into your house.
I loved how the Holmes Homes team mixed and matched patterns and materials in this master bedroom.
You can also see how the lines of the plank wall, against the stone fireplace, the checker chair, the double rugs and the baskets all add personality and dimension to a room packed with neutral colors. I love it all!
5
Accessories
After you take care of the neighborhood, the bones, the floor-plan, and lighting, it is time to decorate and have fun!
Use combinations of colors that you love.
Use natural elements and keep in mind that if it works in nature it will work in your home!
Show your personality through the accessories that you choose!
And remember that a home is not a museum;
It is that place that should show your taste and say your story!
…dream at home!

You have got to be the Cutest, and absolutely the most Brilliant Blogger that I have actually stopped to read. Yes it’s late, can’t sleep, Husband is in meetings in Mckinney TX. And I’m in Lubbock Tx. Anyways you are the only Blogger that I read the whole way through, and sent the link to my husband, and told him that’s where we WILL retire. ( I’m 41, he’s 49.) I have a couple of friends in Utah. We were thinking of Tropical, but I like this better. It takes quite a person to capture my attention. I’ve been around people my whole life, and I’m a great character reader, and usually I don’t make it past the second sentence. You write, and explain from your heart. You are really good. Making me read that makes me want to know you, and that is cool. You are real. Thank you for a great read. Leah
What a sweet comment! Thank you so much for stopping by and taking the time to read and say hi! Wishing you a wonderful day… You made mine!
That house is absolutely breath-taking and I am sure with a HUGE salary and lots and lots of money a home like this would be possible as well as built in book-cases and all of the other amazing things the house had to offer…however, most of us average people could not meet these standards. Sorry – i just feel like alot of big bloggers that are making tons of cash have become “sell outs”.
Oh, my gosh, I am drooling over that master bed headboard!! So gorgeous! Can you tell me where that came from?
Bette, I wish I had more information about it but I don’t. I visited the home and I took the pictures. I agree with you… I think it is gorgeous!
Um yeah, I could pack up and move in there tomorrow.
Beautiful home!!
LOVE it all – the natural light is something we have been craving since we arrived to N-ID. So we gave up lots of wall space in the new house so we could have as many windows as we could possibly add. I am so looking forward to that. It does change the mood for sure.
I agree! Have a wonderful day my friend!
Love everything about this! Such great tips! Thanks for sharing. XOXO
Thank you so much Aly!!!
