Easy Skillet Cornbread Recipe

Delicious skillet cornbread.
Ingredients
  • ½ cup butter- melted
  • ⅓ cup raw honey
  • 1 large egg - room temperature
  • 1 cup buttermilk- room temperature
  • 1 cups cornmeal
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour - spooked & leveled - not scooped
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ⅛ tsp table salt
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees & with 10" iron skillet inside
  2. Combine honey, egg, buttermilk & melted butter in a large bowl.
  3. Whisk in cornmeal, flour, baking powder, baking soda & salt until combined - avoid overmixing
  4. Carefully remove hot skillet from oven & pour batter in
  5. Return batter-filled skillet to oven & bake 20 min. or until the edges are golden brown (use the toothpick test in center)
  6. Allow to cool slightly before serving - top with butter & additional honey
