How is everyone doing?
We’ve been busy and HOT around here.
This heat is going to kill us!
Do you remember the little table that I showed you last week on my Facebook Page?
The one that I paid $4 for?
Well it got a little makeover!
Let me show you…
Crazy… but wait you have to see the inside.
Crazy fun I say!
This post is to show you that you should never underestimate the treasures hidden in a Thrift Store.
$4? We are taking about FOUR DOLLARS?
How cool is that? I should give myself a sticker!
TUTORIAL
This nightstand was made with the laminated plywood that the 70’s found so attractive.
A few weeks ago I did a tutorial of how to paint laminated plywood furniture,
well today I am touching the basics again.
1
The first thing you need to do is to remove the hardware from the furniture.
This night stand had as a handle a piece of something and the bottom drawer was missing it,
so it has to go. Please forgive my tools…
2
Yes that was a knife and a meat tenderizer hammer.
After the removal it was time to thoroughly clean the nightstand.
I used soap and hot water to remove any oil and dust from the nightstand.
3
After the nightstand was clean and dry I used some wood putty to fill the holes and scratches.
Let the putty dry and after sand it softly.
4
Remove all of the dust from the sanding and all you have left is to paint.

I purchased some wood knobs and painted them yellow…
As simple as that!
My girls loved the inside… Isn’t it so fun?
Just in case you are wondering I want to share the paint colors with you
The yellow is 310B-5 Spiced Butternut by BEHR.
The gray is my very favorite gray.
The name of the paint is Quilt { D16-2 } by Olympic ONE.
I hope this post and makeover inspires you to look around for pieces of furniture with great potential.
Now I better go and keep painting, another piece of furniture needs some love.
I will be posting about it soon.

I’m sharing this project at these fabulous parties!
Wow that’s awesome! You did an amazing job and your step by step instructions are easy to follow and clear. Thanks for sharing! You’ve inspired me 🙂
Desiree, this makeover is terrific! I just did a feature post on my blog so that my readers can be as impressed as I was. There is a link back to you so they can see everything available! Thanks.
I’ll take a lemon head, thank you! I like that you colored the inside of the drawers yellow;)
Kristen, for some crazy reason I found your comments on my spam folder… I don’t think so! I don’t want to miss a word from one of my favorite girls on blog land. I miss you my friend!
I am so glad you posted this in the TT&J party because I removed the odd handle off a 1980s dresser and need to fill the holes because I can’t find a pull to fit it. Wood filler is easier than I thought, I guess.
Oh fun!
Enjoy working on your dresser and thank you for the visit!
You did a great job!
Thank you!
Wow! That transformation is absolutely amazing. I love the cheery yellow you chose. Oh, and that lamp is just too cute. Great job.
