After reading some of your comments I feel the need to take away this post.
I know most of you took it with the same humor that I did when these “rules” were shared with me.
I appreciate one and each of my readers
and I want you to know that it was never my intention to offend anyone.
In all seriousness, for us the most amazing thing about parenthood is to see our boy and girls grow up
knowing who they are, and giving them the confidence to embrace life and everything that comes with it.
I sincerely apologize for the misunderstanding.
Thank You So Much For Visiting!

I would love to seethe rules too. Having 17 and 14 year old girls and a 2 year old boy – I think I would really appreciate them.
Thanks katrina
can someone please e-mail me, Daddy’s dating rules. I would love to see it and share it with my husband. thanks 🙂
It’s a pity you had to take the ‘rules’ down as a result of some people that don’t have a sense of humour. It amazes to find that when you post something funny there’s someone that will have a bee up their bonnet and make a scene about it instead of just not reading it.
At some point they are going to have to realize that if you don’t like it don’t read it. Wonder if these same people go into a shop and throw a tantrum because they don’t like an item?
Anyway, these ‘rules’ were passed around by my parents and my friends parents when we were teenagers. The result: it was a huge hit to see how many of those rules we could actually get to work!!!
Hey Desiree,
This is the first time I read an email from my inbox and didn’t click to come and read it on your blog and by the time I clicked to come and comment about how hilarious it was! I felt bad to see you had to delete this post… Desiree this was so fun to read, and I think all the dads in the world love their daughters and are possessive to some extent, though they may not show that all the time and it takes time for them to trust the new man in their daughters life! 🙂
I thought it was hilarious! Unfortunately these days, dating rules have changed from when I was a teenager. Boys always came to the door, met the parents, had curfews, etc. I respected my parent’s rules and the boys did not, they didn’t get to come back.
Is there a way that you could email me a copy of these? I am sorry you had to take this post down because of a few. It was really a good post and had made my night when I read them.
I’m here again to apologize for having made a wonderful woman feel bad, and to make clear that I don’t believe at all that she is a sexist or a bad mother in any sense. I’m sure she is not.
My original intention is clear to me, I haven’t expressed it well, though. I still believe that sexist humour is not appropriate, but when I said “How do you want to raise…” and all the sentences including a “you” I wasn’t talking about Desirée, it was an Impersonal You, meaning the plurality of people that may take those “rules” as a slight exaggeration of a normal situation.
Therefore, I never intended to judge her as a mother, just to state my opinion. I even didn’t expected her to remove the entry, I just wanted to rise a topic. I didn’t feel victorious when she removed it, specially for the reasons she made it. I should have chosen my words more wisely. And I never, ever, intended to make her feel this bad. I am so sorry.
Please, read this as a public apology.
I think this was cute – but I had to go elsewhere to find it. I realize that we all have our opinions on things however, the thing is that I have been informed that it is common for boys to expect intimacy for dinner and a movie!!! What has happened to manners and appropriate behavior?? That I take offense with, no manners or appropriateness!! I would probably post this if my daughter was young again!! Thank the dear Lord she is not!!
If you sitill have the rules saved can you please email them to me I would like to read them if they are as funny as most people seem to think. Thank you.
🙁 I’m sad I didn’t get to see the ‘rules’. I’m sure they were funny. It’s just too bad that some without a sense of humor have to ruin it for the rest.
Hope you have a great day! Love your blog!
