This week I have been busy finishing up some last minute gifts for neighbors and teachers.
This is what we did!
COOKIES?
Excuse me… What is wrong with cookies?
Besides don’t judge me YET!
…Check this OUT!
Better?
You are going to love these cookies they are SUPER EASY to make
and SUPER DELICIOUS!
Candy Cane Mint Cookie Recipe

- 2 Eggs.
- 1 Tb Vanilla
- ½ Cup Unsalted Soft Butter or Margarine
- 1 Cup Chocolate Chips
- 6 to 8 Candy Canes or 1 Cup of Mint Baking Chips
- Preheat over at 350ºF
- To make the cookie dough mix together cake mix, eggs and butter.
- Add the chocolate chips and stir together.
- Peel the candy canes and crush them in small pieces. Add them to the cookie dough.
- Bake them at for 8 to 9 minutes. Do not over cook.
- Let it snow... Sprinkle powder sugar on top of baked cookies.
They are so good.
If you want to make them as chocolate Chip Mint Cookies just
replace the Candy Canes with Andes Creme de Menthe Baking Chips.
So yummy!
Plan A
To give them away as a gift put your mint cookies inside of a Mason Jar.
NOTE: They need to be small enough to enter inside of the jar.
Decorate your Mason Jar to give it a festive look!
Plan B
OK… I am going to be absolutly honest with you.
I made the first batch of cookies and they were so good that Mimi and I ate half of them.
So we ended up having only one jar done. 🙁
{ The one went to school with my son for his AMAZING teacher. }
Then I realized that Christmas is almost HERE and that I had many more teachers on my list.
So I thought “girl no more baking. Time for Plan B”
The Cookie Mix in a Jar…
The first thing you want to do is empty a full box of Devil Food Cake inside of a jar. I freaked out when I first did this because it filled up the entire jar. Just squish the cake mix down as much as you can, you’ll be amazed how much space you’ll have left.
Trace the inside of the lid on craft paper. Cut it and hot glue it on the lid.
I made this free printable for the Holidays… I just punched a little hole on it.
I punched some snow flakes and I hanged it all from the jar with some baker twine…
These Candy Cane Cookies look so yummy! I featured them in my “Last-Minute” Christmas Gift Ideas, here is the link http://beanbugcrafts.blogspot.com/2011/12/last-minute-christmas-gift-ideas.html. Thanks for sharing!
So what size mason jar did you use?
The large size.
The large size!
I LOVE this post! Great idea – wondeful photos, and so funny that you ate so many of the cookies you had to make jars of the mix! Which are equally great as gifts I have to say! Oh and I like your glittery nail polish too!! 🙂
Thanks for linking to a Round Tuit!
Hope you have a very Merry Christmas!

This is fabulous!! Love the presentation. Thanks for sharing! Just pinned you 🙂
What size box of cake mix? How many does this yield? Also is that just powered sugar sprinkled on top? Sorry for all the questions, but I’m thinking of making these for Christmas gifts.
A regular 15.25 oz cake mix.
The snow on top is powered sugar and one cake mix will bake enough cookies to make two jars.
I hope this helps!
Hi, I am trying to find a post I believe you did. I found it on pinterest and it lead me to your blog. It’s for organizing spools of thread. I know my MIL would love it and I’d really like to make it for her. Can you PLEASE email me? [email protected]
Thank you!

Hmmm…
I can’t find it… but I will keep looking.
Desiree, this is perfect! Just what I’ve been looking for, I just got to find an alternative cake mix, for we don’t have any store nearby that’s selling it and the US cake mixes cost quite a bit more when you order them online or buy them at a specialty store 🙁 ( I live in Germany ;-)). I have a real moist chocolate cake already in mind. Thanks for sharing! Have a great weekend – maks 🙂
Maks,
I am originally from Spain and every time I go visit my family in The Canary Islands a bring a bunch of cake mixes with me. They love them… but I love and I always crave a good homemade cake. We always want what we don’t have 😉
Thank you for stopping by and Merry Christmas to you all the way from the USA to Germany. Love it!
xoxo
Regardless of whether they taste good, the packaging is terrific. I love the card you made the with various fonts.
