How are you beYOUtiful PEOPLE? I am excited!
Sewing is one of the thousand things I CAN’T do and fabrics is one of the things that I love. So today I am going to show you a fabric project that you can do without a stitch! Here is my decoupaged suitcase, Miss Lola…Is she sassy or what?
.
.
This is pretty much what happened…
I decided to exchange the sewing machine for Mod Podge, the thread for spray paint, the needles for a brush and the patterns for an old suitcase…

This project is all about the places you’ll go even if it is just in your dreams… make it cool, make it happy, make it beYOUtiful and YOUnique.
.
.
I started with these materials…
Spray paint, tape and an old AWESOME hard shell suitcase that I found at my local Thrift Store for $4.00

.
I taped the areas I did not want to be painted…. Every bit of silver was taped.
Is this a pain? You may ask.
Heck yeah! But it is a LOT faster and easier than labor, or a diet, or ironing…
So don’t complain girl and start taping!

Let’s have some fun with the spray paint…
Shut UP! Do you know I won six cans of color GREATNESS from KRYLON at the CSI Project Party?!
They are coming my way next week… ! I can’t wait!

OK I better focus!

This DUAL PRIMER+PAINT spray is AWESOME!

You don’t need to spray the entire suitcase since you are going to cover it with fabric.
Just make sure you cover all the areas that will be exposed…
Looks so good already!

Let it dry!
Go eat something… come check my blog… call your husband… make dinner…
but wait until it dries.
When it is dry it is time to unfold the beauty… Take the tape off.

Place the fabric on top of one side of the suitcase and cut the amount needed to cover the area.
Leave 1 inch of extra fabric around it so it is easy to pull and work with…
Do the same thing for the other side.

Get the brush and Mod Podge OUT…
Mess, here we come!
.
.
This step is SO important.
Paint the areas where you are going to put the fabric with Mod-Podge.
BE GENEROUS and pay attention to the corners and edges.

Place the FABRIC, add more Mod Podge on top of it. With the help of a dull knife or your nails press against the edges so it really sticks to the suitcase. Use your hand to smooth the fabric.
.
Pull and press YOU DON’T WANT BUBBLES of air between the suitcase and the fabric.

Desiree
Hi Desiree – I have fallen in love with your blog! And you couldn’t be sweeter!! I just brought home an old fashioned make up train case (is that what they used to call the small ones?) from my favorite “Last Chance Good Will” for $2. I will be spray painting her today and covering her with fabric. What a great idea…… I am new in the blogging world. Any suggestions for me to be successful? I’ll take any and all ideas. Thanks so much for sharing your creativeness with us. Have a terrific day!!
The suitcase tutorial is fabulous. Of course, I have pinned it so I won’t forget to work one up. I may have four cases in the attic… Thank you! If you have a moment, you might want to come check out my giveaway. ~Kelly

Thank you Kelly!
I am making a new one soon. I love the one I have.
You could definitely see your enthusiasm within the paintings you write. The world hopes for more passionate writers such as you who aren’t afraid to say how they believe. All the time follow your heart.
This is killer Desiree! I love it so much I’m going out on the weekend to find an old suitcase! 🙂
