Hey there! I’m Kelly from Live Laugh Rowe — I’m new around here, but I couldn’t be happier to get to hang out with you and share something fun and colorful! I don’t know about you, but I fight the winter blues every. single. year. I have to take extra Vitamin D and all. Considering that I love winter, it stinks to have to fight that ‘blah’ feeling that comes knocking on my door. So, I recently got to thinking about something that would be fun to give to someone that might be fighting the winter blues or just having a bad day/week/month. I think a Jar Full of Sunshine might do the trick!
While there is a ton of information on the psychology of color, which I find very interesting, I find the color yellow to be a perfectly happy color. It’s fun, cheery and makes me smile — kinda like the sun {giggle}. Most people prefer sunny days over gloomy ones, right? Therefore, a jar filled with happy things should induce a happy feeling. Ta dah!
There is nothing super complicated about this jar full of sunshine, you’ll simply start by going on a scavenger hut around your home (or have the kids do it for you, they’ll love it) in search of all things yellow.
I collected items such as yellow buttons, paper clips, pom poms, highlighters, erasers, Starbursts, a pack of gum, a yellow crocheted heart, bakers twine, washi tape, post-it notes, a spool of thread, a mini yellow bag I filled with heart confetti and MORE! Who knew I had so many yellow items hiding out around my house!! The only thing to keep in mind is that your items will need to fit in your jar (or you could pick a bigger jar. hee-hee) — other than that, there are no rules, just lots and lots of fun!
Supplies: Mason Jar(s) Jar Full of Sunshine Tags, see below Hole Puncher Scissors or Paper cutter Twine, Yarn or Ribbon Next, you’re going to fill up that jar up with all of your yellow goodies! Pack it in there, friends! Now, cut your tag(s) and punch a hole into one of the corners using your whole puncher. The final step is to tie your tag onto the jar with your choice of twine, yarn, ribbon, etc. I’m a bit of twine girl, so that’s what I used.
I created a couple of Jar Full of Sunshine Tags for you! One is a basic square and the other is a flag/pennant of sorts.

You could even paint the jar, so your friend will have a colorful vase for future use! Woo-Hoo!
