Being born in Spain it is not a surprise that Flan is one of my favorite desserts.
Today I am sharing an easy Flan Recipe that anyone can make and enjoy.
Flan is a popular dessert in many countries.
It is similar to Crème Brulee but instead of having a hard crusty caramel top,
the caramel becomes soft as it melts in the pan while baking the flan.
You can eat it in some of the best restaurants of Europe but my favorite Flan yet
comes from this simple recipe that you can bake in about 40 minutes in the comfort of your own kitchen.
Here is my favorite Flan Recipe.
Flan Recipe
Author: Desiree Campbell
Serves: 8 to 10
Ingredients
- 7 Eggs
- 1 Can { 14 oz. } of Sweetened Condensed Milk
- 1 Can { 12 oz. } of Evaporated Milk
- 2 Tsp. Vanilla
- For the Caramel: 2 Cups of Sugar.
Instructions
- The firts thing you need to make is the caramel.
- Put the two cups of sugar into a sauce pan and slowly melt the sugar until it turns golden brown and becomes liquidity and uniform.
- Right away pour the melted sugar into the pan where you are going to bake your flan. The caramel will cool down and get hard in just seconds. Put the pan aside.
- For the flan mix all of the ingredients well together for a few minutes. I like to use a handmixer for this step.
- Pour the flan mixture into the baking pan right on top of the caramel.
- You are going to bake this Bain-Marie style. To do this add about an inch of water to a bigger baking pan. Inside of it put the other pan that has the flan mixture in it. Then add more water to the first pan if needed making sure that the water won't go inside of the flan mixture. It is like the small pan is taking a bath inside of a bigger pan. Bake between 30 and 40 minutes at 325 degrees.
- To serve flip the flan carefully onto a platter or plate. The caramel will be melted right on top of your flan. My mom likes hers with a little bit of whip cream.
Notes
I like to use a 9 inch round pan to bake the flan.
Enjoy!
Have a beautiful day my friends!
Besos!
I’m so excited to try making this! My husband and I love flan but I’ve never even looked up a recipe for it because I thought it would be too hard….this sounds totally do-able though! Thanks!!
This recipe is very close to our family recipe and we make our flan every year for Christmas and on other occasions…the last couple of years we have added a little extra taste..just a tablespoon or two of dulce de leche to the liquid mix and make sure you dissolved it well before pouring it in the baking pan…delicioso!
If we don’t add it to the mix, once it’s ready to eat we add a little dollop of dulce de leche (yes..dulce de leche fan here) or whipped cream !
Feliz Año!
Had to pin this it took me back in time when my dad used to make this all the time. Thanks.
So sweet… love it!
I LOVED every bite, thank you! It’s one of my favorite desserts too!
Besos,

My Mother and I are both VERY picky about are Flan, so much so we’ve NEVER made it LOL!! There is a restaurant in downtown San Diego that makes the BEST Flan and that’s where we’ve gone all these years to get our FLAN fix. I do think one of these days I will have to break down and learn how to make it, especially since moving out of State is a big possibility and I really don’t think the restaurant would be so Generous to share their recipe with me as you have : ) So I will be Pinning this to my “Yummy” board. 🙂
Thank you for sharing it!
