For the last few weeks I’ve been working on our bedroom makeover. I love Farmhouse Decor and for our master bedroom I wanted to create a warm and cozy space, a place where I would love to read a book, relax, and not just sleep. One of my favorite accessories in our bedroom now is my corner DIY Ladder. Today I’m sharing with you all a super easy DIY Home Project, how to antique an ordinary wooden ladder and make it look simply extraordinary!
TUTORIAL
The first thing you are going to need is a ladder. Before you buy a new one make sure to check out your local thrift stores. I always see a bunch of old ladders there. Don’t worry about purchasing something that looks great, actually the older the ladder is, the more character and antiqued look it will have at the end.
Now that you have your ladder, give it a good wash with warm soap and water and let it dry outside.
The next step is to stain the ladder. For this project I used Minwax Dark Walnut – you can find it HERE, the same stain brand that I used for my yellow desk makeover HERE. All you need to do is to apply your wood finish to the clean wood surface. I like to use old t-shirts for this step. Apply as many coats as needed until you accomplish the look that you want.
More stain you apply, the darker your ladder will end!
Now, leave it outside in the shade until it is completely dry.
The last thing you need to do is have fun and style it however your little heart desires!
