How is everyone doing?
We’ve been busy and HOT around here.
This heat is going to kill us!
Do you remember the little table that I showed you last week on my Facebook Page?
The one that I paid $4 for?
Well it got a little makeover!
Let me show you…
Crazy… but wait you have to see the inside.
Crazy fun I say!
This post is to show you that you should never underestimate the treasures hidden in a Thrift Store.
$4? We are taking about FOUR DOLLARS?
How cool is that? I should give myself a sticker!
TUTORIAL
This nightstand was made with the laminated plywood that the 70’s found so attractive.
A few weeks ago I did a tutorial of how to paint laminated plywood furniture,
well today I am touching the basics again.
1
The first thing you need to do is to remove the hardware from the furniture.
This night stand had as a handle a piece of something and the bottom drawer was missing it,
so it has to go. Please forgive my tools…
2
Yes that was a knife and a meat tenderizer hammer.
After the removal it was time to thoroughly clean the nightstand.
I used soap and hot water to remove any oil and dust from the nightstand.
3
After the nightstand was clean and dry I used some wood putty to fill the holes and scratches.
Let the putty dry and after sand it softly.
4
Remove all of the dust from the sanding and all you have left is to paint.

I purchased some wood knobs and painted them yellow…
As simple as that!
My girls loved the inside… Isn’t it so fun?
Just in case you are wondering I want to share the paint colors with you
The yellow is 310B-5 Spiced Butternut by BEHR.
The gray is my very favorite gray.
The name of the paint is Quilt { D16-2 } by Olympic ONE.
I hope this post and makeover inspires you to look around for pieces of furniture with great potential.
Now I better go and keep painting, another piece of furniture needs some love.
I will be posting about it soon.
