This week I have been busy finishing up some last minute gifts for neighbors and teachers.
This is what we did!
COOKIES?
Excuse me… What is wrong with cookies?
Besides don’t judge me YET!
…Check this OUT!
Better?
You are going to love these cookies they are SUPER EASY to make
and SUPER DELICIOUS!
Candy Cane Mint Cookie Recipe
- 1 Devil Food Cake Mix
- 2 Eggs.
- 1 Tb Vanilla
- ½ Cup Unsalted Soft Butter or Margarine
- 1 Cup Chocolate Chips
- 6 to 8 Candy Canes or 1 Cup of Mint Baking Chips
- Preheat over at 350ºF
- To make the cookie dough mix together cake mix, eggs and butter.
- Add the chocolate chips and stir together.
- Peel the candy canes and crush them in small pieces. Add them to the cookie dough.
- Bake them at for 8 to 9 minutes. Do not over cook.
- Let it snow... Sprinkle powder sugar on top of baked cookies.
They are so good.
If you want to make them as chocolate Chip Mint Cookies just
replace the Candy Canes with Andes Creme de Menthe Baking Chips.
So yummy!
Plan A
To give them away as a gift put your mint cookies inside of a Mason Jar.
NOTE: They need to be small enough to enter inside of the jar.
Decorate your Mason Jar to give it a festive look!
Plan B
OK… I am going to be absolutly honest with you.
I made the first batch of cookies and they were so good that Mimi and I ate half of them.
So we ended up having only one jar done. 🙁
{ The one went to school with my son for his AMAZING teacher. }
Then I realized that Christmas is almost HERE and that I had many more teachers on my list.
So I thought “girl no more baking. Time for Plan B”
The Cookie Mix in a Jar…
The first thing you want to do is empty a full box of Devil Food Cake inside of a jar. I freaked out when I first did this because it filled up the entire jar. Just squish the cake mix down as much as you can, you’ll be amazed how much space you’ll have left.
Trace the inside of the lid on craft paper. Cut it and hot glue it on the lid.
I made this free printable for the Holidays… I just punched a little hole on it.
I punched some snow flakes and I hanged it all from the jar with some baker twine…
I just noticed a couple things:
In the first recipe (the one where you actually make them you have 1 tbsp vanilla) in the second recipe (the one for the tag) you have 1 tsp vanilla.
I just made the cookies with 1 tbsp. (as an example) but am typing up tags (for just the mix) to give as gifts.
Just wondering which measurement is correct?
They are great cookies by the way!! A sure hit at our house!
Suzanne, use 1 Tablespoon.
What size jar do you recommend?
I’m excited to make these! Great post 🙂
Happy Holidays!
Oh my goodness those sound so yummy! And you certainly know how to present them beautifully. Pinning!!

The trick is parchment paper. If you bake them on parchment paper they will not stick!
Thank you Lisa I will try that!
I am very interested in making these cookies as gifts. I am looking at Jars and for large sizes I see a 32oz & 64oz. Can you let me know which of these sizes you used? Thank you in advance. Shannon
Thank you so much for your post. I love your work!!!
Quick question. I have had an issue with the cookies sticking. Mostly due to the candy cane pieces melting and sticking to the wax paper. Ive also tried non stick spray and they are still sticking. Any advice would be AMAZING! Thank you so so so very much! THEY ARE THE BEST COOKIES !!!!!!!!!
Brooke, I have the same problem somtimes. I noticed that if I remove the cookies quick they don’t stick so bad. Try that!
