Some exciting Blogging Conferences are around the corner.
Saturday I will be attending BYB Conference and in April I will be at SNAP.
I know for many of you going to a conference for the first time can be exciting and scary.
Trust me… I had both of these feeling the first time I attended one.
So I put together a small Blogging Conference 101 Post.
These are simple things that you can do before the Blogging Conference to get ready for a great time.
If you still have question by the end of the post,
please drop a comment and ask them.
I would love to answer any of them if I can.

Business Cards and Social Media Kit
It is your business to represent your blog the best you can.
Make sure to bring with you your business cards and even a social media kit with you.
Your business cards will not only give bloggers a reference back to your own blog but they are a
great way to break the ice and start a conversation.
I would advise you to design a card with a picture of you on it.
Don’t forget to have your basic info such as email and blog URL.
By the end of a conference you’ll have hundreds of cards
and the best way to remember who they belong to are the pictures of the owners.
You want your card to stand out from the other hundreds and your picture will do just that.
You want to bring anywhere between 150 and 250 cards to a conference.
I will be posting about how to make an awesome Social Media Kit soon.

Talking about pictures…
Something you don’t want to forget is your camera.
This would give you the opportunity to capture those moments that you want to share.
I personally love blogging about the conference and sharing my experience with others.
{ You can read about things that I learn from SNAP here and check out my time at EVO here. }
My i-phone pictures are great for social media but when it comes to blogging you want a better resolution shot.

What to pack?
During a blogging conference you are going to walk, eat, dance, do hands on activities
and meet sponsors and other fellow bloggers at the same time.
You want to wear clothes that can do all of these tasks at once.
Keeping all of these in mind I like to wear what I call the triple C outfits.
These are clothes that make me feel confident, comfortable and cute.
I feel I am more excited to participate in anything when I feel good about myself.
Don’t forget to pack any medicines and special items that you may need.
Wear what you love and what makes you feel beYOUtiful.

Who are you sleeping with?
OK! Let me explain.
I think it is fair to say a Conference has two parts.
The conference itself and the after conference, when it’s time to go back to the hotel.
Your roomies are a big part of your experience of a conference.
Some people like to sleep, some others, like me, love to chit chat after and visit for many hours… sometimes too many.
Choose a group or roomies that match your sleeping needs so you are all happy in the morning.
I have to say that some of the best memories and my closest friendships
have come from those night moments.

Before you go, leave things in order.
Some of us have to travel in order to get to a Conference.
Make sure you take the time to leave things in order at home.
As women we wear a lot of hats and for 1 to 3 days you won’t be able to do so.
You are going to be away from home and in order to enjoy your Conference time to the fullest,
your mind has to be worry free.
I made a printable that may help to check off some of the items that you will want to have in order before you leave.

Relax!
That’s right!
You have your ticket, you have you suitcase, you have taken care of everything… now relax.
Learn about the conference as much as you can.
This will make the experience awesome.
Know what speakers you would love to listen to, what classes they are offering,
that way you won’t miss something you would really like to be a part of.
Learn about what sponsors will be there; perhaps you would like to work with some of them.
Know that whatever your dreams are for your business or blog can come true
and that a Blogging Conference can get you closer to many of those goals and dreams.
Don’t be shy and go to a conference with the determination to meet as many people as you can.
Be approachable and approach those other bloggers that you would love to meet.
Sometimes you’ll find some of your sweets friends in them and yes you’ll love them forever.
I am telling you I can’t wait to meet so many of you.
So relax, have fun… and enjoy the ride!
Do you still have questions?
Well, drop me a comment I will do my best to answer them.
I’ll see you back here at 10:30pm ready to party!
Have a great day my friends!

This is super helpful. Thanks for putting this together! 🙂
You are very welcome!
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR STOPPING BY!
Great post! I just pinned it to our Conference Survival board. Thanks for sharing!
Great advice, looking forward to attending a conference one day.
I can’t wait to see you at SNAP again this year Desiree!!
What kind of bag would you recommend to use during the conference? See you at BYB.
I would bring a bag that is big enough to carry your camera, phone, cards and some extra space for sponsor items. Make sure it is confortable on your sholder since you are going to have it with you all day. I can’t wait to see you there.
Thanks for sharing! I am going to BYB too, and I am a bit nervous! I know it will be so fun though!
What a great post! Those pictures make me smile all over again! Besos, my friend!! Excited to see you at SNAP and hear your cute accent again;)
Thanks for the wonderful advice! I hope to see you at BYB and Snap! Should be lots of fun!
